Per usual, I was talking about travelling yesterday. One of my co-workers said to me, "Have you ever been somewhere you haven't loved?" I realized.... no. Well, with the exception of Des Moines, Iowa... what a shit hole! Sure things have gone wrong in certain places, like Missy, Tom, AP, and I all getting carsick in the horrid mountains of St. Lucia. But on the whole... I LOVE to travel and thoroughly enjoy my time away.
My dream job, for a long time, has been a cruise director. Essentially, that is what I do now, only my ship doesn't sail. But I love getting out and seeing the world. Okay, maybe I just REALLY like tropical places, though Alaska was awesome too. But I digress... I love to travel, and love having that as my guilty pleasure and my way to spend my hard earned dollars.
In February, Chad and I are going on a 10-night cruise. This will be my longest one yet, and I am VERY excited about it. It will be on Holland America's Noordam (a ship I already cruised Alaska on) and we will be going to the following ports: Half Moon Cay, Turks & Caicos, Dominican Republic, Bonaire, Curacao, and Aruba. Of those, I have only been to Aruba, and it is my favorite of all the ports so far. Chad and I have a dream... one day we will move to the Caribbean and live in peace and quiet. Let's see if that ever happens.
Because I am a complete cruise whore, we also are doing a cruise for our Honeymoon. It will be to Hawaii. Both of us have always wanted to go to Hawaii and cruising (though not our original plan) allows us to go all over Hawaii for much cheaper than flying there and doing it on our own. We will be going on NCL America's Pride of America to Honolulu, Maui, Kuai, Kona, and Hilo. I can hardly wait... unfortunately, I have to wait... January 15, 2011.
Once those cruises are done, it is time to spread our wings and do an international cruise. My new destination that I desperately want to see is Santorini. Just google the images and you will see why I want to go there. Chad has also always wanted to do an Alaskan cruise, so we will certainly do that at some point to.
If only I had more time, and more money.... I would travel a lot more. Oh well, such is life. That said, I certainly appreciate what I have and am able to do.
