Thucky Thurthsday

Well, my dreaded day is now less than 48 hours away. I am having my wisdom teeth out on Thursday and I am REALLY not looking forward to it. First, I am 31 and have never been under any anesthesia. I am very thankful for that... no broken bones, no hospital stays, nothing. I was really enjoying that record. Second, I have always had this fear that they will knock me out, but I will still be able to feel everything but not be able to tell them. I am freaked out.

I know this is an extremely common procedure and almost everyone I know has had it done. But none the less, this will still be my first surgery and I am really not happy about it. Though I am thrilled to get it over with!!!

It happens bright and early Thursday morning... 7:20 to be exact, so the good news is I will get it over with quickly. My mom is taking me and then spending the day with me. Friday, Chad is coming over to spend the day with me, and I think Missy is too. Lots of people around so I should be fine. That said, I won't be updating this for a bit, but look for an update early next week. Love to all my readers!

I Miss Camp

I really do miss camp. Not Butwin or Olami, though. While I have a very special place in my heart for both of them (um... I was the camp director after all), I really miss Herzl. Yesterday I found this 'Camp' camp on the website. Basically, it is camp for GLBT adults. And it made me really miss my Herzl days.

I loved being a camper, but even more so, I loved being on staff. Those were EASILY the best summers of my life, and there are times I would give anything to go back and do it all over again. So... here is another one of my famous lists, this time it is of things I miss about Herzl...

1. The Shabbat caravan.
2. Singing in the chadar (the old chadar, not the air conditioned palace).
3. Playing "what are they thinking" in the mo with my homies.
4. The first day of camp.
5. Candlesharing.
6. The ozo mo.
7. Grilled cheese.
8. Days off.
9. The Pour House... let me be clear... the OLD Pour House.
10. Hanging at the schmear sites.
11. Lifeguarding on the floating dock.
12. Cabin 17.
13. Services at the Mercaz.
14. The N'Divim program.
15. The old school t-shirts that had the same design, but changed colors every year. They were last done in 1991... appropriately, they were black.
16. Thinking nothing of playing games with other naked guys in the shower (see... you all made me gay).
16. Raids.
17. Flag songs... specifically the one I wrote to Joseph's Coat for B'Yachad 1996.
18. My ozo's when I was papa, despite them being complete a-holes a good 98% of the time.
19. The anticipation of the first drive up for the summer.
20. Singing the song as you pull in.
21. Singing the old songs on Fridays after lunch.
22. Cooks parade (they don't seem to want to do that an an assisted living home... weird).
23. Chanut.
24. 12 Gates and Tommy's "I gotta pee" song to the tune of "Under the sea."
25. Ozo plays.
26. Final banquet.
27. ComedySportz... always best when done for staff oneg.
28. Cabin plaques.
29. Making friends to last a lifetime.
30. Im Tirzu, Ein Zo Agada

Clearly, this list could go on for a VERY long time. As I said, I would give anything to go back. So all those of you ready for another reunion, let me know... I am all over it.

V-day

I used to dread Valentine's Day. First of all... it is a Hallmark holiday anyway, and a VERY expensive way to tell your family you love them. Second, if you do not have a significant other, what good is it anyway. I have really only celebrated one Valentine's Day in the past, and while it was nice, that was in 2003... what feels like forever ago.

This year, I am already excited for Valentine's Day. For one, it is on a Saturday. Two, we already have reservations for a delicious dinner. And finally, I've got the right guy to share it with. What could be better?

And for those of you single out there, I will still gladly commiserate with you because Valentine's Day still sucks and there is nothing worse than hearing someone who has a significant other tell you "It will happen soon." Bullshit... how do you know?!?! So I won't say it, instead I will just join you in saying Valentine's Day sucks if you are single.

Ccccccooooollllllddddd!

Holy shit.... it's FREEZING out there. When I woke up the air temp was 20 below zero with a windchill of 40 below. Now that is a COLD day! It has also inspired me to give you a list of things to do indoors in Minnesota:

1. Stay in, light a fire, and cuddle (you know who you are).
2. Drink a nice warm cup of mint hot chocolate at Caribou.
3. Go see a movie... there are a ton out right now (Gran Torino, Doubt, Milk, etc.)
4. Catch a movie at the Omnitheater... a fun spin on the movie going experience.
5. Bake cookies.
6. Play Bingo at Mystic (I won $150 doing it last Saturday).
7. Visit the Minnesota Zoo... the poor animals are cold, but you can be warm watching them.
8. Go to Grand Slam... an opportunity to feel like a kid again.
9. Drive around the lakes or the Arboretum... your car is warm inside.
10. Speaking of cars... turn on your heated seats. Check!
11. Get a massage.
12. Check out a play at any number of theaters around town.
13. See ComedySportz in Calhoun Square... so damn funny!
14. Plan a cruise!
15. Knit... weird, I know, just trying to get to 16.
16. Go have dinner with "the one!"

I hope I have inspired you to do something fun and something warm.

Good News

My Monday morning started out great. I had two things lingering out there I thought might be a problem, but it turns out... both are great.

First, I bought a new cell phone last month. With it, comes a mail in rebate. Well, last week I got a letter telling me I was not going to get the rebate. This had me seeing red. However, I finally got around to calling today. When I did, the woman informed me somehow there was a duplicate application so this letter was for the duplicate, but my request was still coming. Yeah... $50 headed my way.

The other things was a much bigger deal. As you know, I am having my wisdom teeth out. LONG story short... family history of a cholinesterase deficiency. If I have it, teeth come out in the hospital. Had the test last week, no one knew how to interpret in. Figured it out, only to find out they were missing part of the test. Talked to the doctor's office this morning and they did in fact have the other number, and I am in the clear. No deficiency! That means I get to have my teeth out as scheduled in the oral surgeon's office, and never have to worry about an allergy to this anesthesia. Yiipppeeee!!!

I love when a Monday morning turns into a good thing!

Random Thoughts

I do not have any one subject to blog about today, so this time it will be a few random thoughts:

1) Can't we all just get along? I am so sick of the bombing and shit in Israel. Let's meet, agree, and live in world peace. I know this is easier said than done, but come on!

2) I have a cold... again. It keeps coming and going. I am sick of blowing my nose. Remember the days when you were a kid and instead of blowing your nose you sniffed it all in? Gross!

3) Facebook truly becomes more addicting. Plus, it is a good chat forum.

4) Weight Watchers started again on Monday.... it's only been 3 days, but I know I am 100% committed to it this time. 2009 is the year to get healthy and find my husband.

5) I would still appreciate everyone voting for Charley. Tomorrow they make the cut from 6,000 down to 30. I think he has a chance, but he needs your help.

6) Mmmmmm.... hot tea is good.

7) My grandmother is CRAZY!!!! Back in the hospital again.

8) Just over a month until I go on my next cruise. I can hardly wait!!!

9) The date of having my wisdom teeth out looms near. I am truly not looking forward to it, but am REALLY excited to get it over with. I hope everything is okay.

10) I have missed updating my blog and thoroughly enjoyed this entry.

One More Plea

I know you are all just dying for me to write a new entry, and I will soon, but for now, just want to throw out one more plea for everyone to vote for Charley. Instructions are in the post below. He is doing well, but he still needs LOTS of votes. You can vote for him as many times as you want, you just have to wait one minute in between votes. So... Vote for Charley.... and thanks for your support.
