Flights

Airline flights totally boggle my mind. Why is it that one day a flight can be $250, but the exact same one a week later is $360. Do magical things happen in that week? I do not understand.

And why is an hour long flight to Chicago a different cost than an hour long flight to Kansas City. Same distance.... shouldn't it be the same cost?

Why do holidays make a difference? Just because I may want to go somewhere over the 4th of July... is there really a need to raise the prices? Are fuel, pop, and peanuts more expensive that week?

And don't even get me started on Vegas. Why are flights to Vegas cheap? I get why hotels are... you spend money in their casino. But there is no gambling on a plane. So shouldn't the flight to Vegas be the same as the flight to California? I think we need some regulation here.

It seems that the airlines are raising prices and we are getting less and less for it. Sure... we get wedged in between the big fat guy with a cold who is throwing snotty kleenex' into the seat back pocket, and whose wife is on your other side with their kicking and screaming child. The good news... we arrive safely, and I do appreciate that. But they have taken away pillows, blankets, magazine's, food, etc. What's next? Seats? Are we all going to sit on the floor "cargo" style? Toilet paper? Are planes going to become BYOTP? I have a hard time with this concept.

Lord knows if you have a frequent flyer ticket headed your way, you certainly won't be able to use it... well, at least not when you want to. To go to LA, you will need to go through NY, and then FL, with 5 hour lay overs at each airport, and you will finally arrive 3 days later.

The truth is... as long as they get me and my luggage there safely, I can make my peace with the rest of it. But it would go a long way to regulate their prices and throw in a pack of peanuts here and there.

In any case... I am flying first-class to my cruise, and at least that should help a little.

V-Day Ideas

Okay, slackers! In case you did not know, tomorrow is Valentine's Day. Now those of us who are good at planning, have already had their day in order for weeks. But I realize some of you are incapable of doing that. So... here are a few last minute, and relatively cheap ideas to help you out. Enjoy...

1. Cook a nice candle lit dinner.
2. Give a massage.
3. Take a warm bath together.
4. Make a CD of meaningful songs or love songs.
5. Write a letter telling your partner all the reasons you love them.
6. Plan a weekend get-away.
7. Bake cookies together.
8. Light a fire and share a bottle of wine.
9. Do a chore that you know your partner hates to do.
10. Watch a romantic movie together.
11. Ignore ALL electronic devices (phones, computers, TV, etc.) for the evening.
12. Have a picnic in your home.
13. Send flowers... no need for anything extravagant, just something small to say "I love you!"
14. Say "I love you" a lot!

Okay, cheesy, I know, but Valentine's Day should be a romantic day. Tell everyone in your life you love them and how much they mean to you.

Cruise Preview

Hi everyone. If you are the jealous type, you may not want to read this blog post. Today, I thought I would give everyone a preview of my up-coming cruise. It is next week already and I can hardly wait!!!!

So, I will leave here Friday night. Chad has been wonderful enough to volunteer to drive Aunt Peggy and I to the airport. Isn't he sweet?!?! :) That night we are flying first class on Northwest direct into Miami. Not too shabby, huh?!?! Unfortunately, the rest of the night will be fairly ghetto as we stay at the Red Roof Inn.

Saturday, we set sail on Royal Caribbean's Liberty of the Seas. It is currently the largest ship in the world, until Royal Caribbean out builds themselves with Oasis of the Seas due out next year. In any case, it should be a gorgeous ship and I am stoked... this will be the first time I have ever had a balcony.

As soon as we get on, we will check out some of the ship, and head right up to the spa to make our massage appointments for our final day on this ship. Those always get filled up quickly. Luckily, we already have all of our shore excursions and specialty restaurants booked.

Sunday is a day at sea. We will spend the day playing games, participating in activities, and checking out things on the ship like the rock wall, ice rink, flow rider, Ben & Jerry's, etc.

Monday we are at out first port. It is their private island called Labadee, Haiti. The pictures look gorgeous!!! We will likely spend some time on the beach, visit some cute little stands, etc. Our shore excusrsion that day is something I have wanted to do ever since Baywatch came out. No, I am not sleeping with David Charvet... I am going on a jet ski!!! Cannot wait for that.

Tuesday we are off to Montego Bay, Jamaica. This is one place I have really wanted to visit for awhile, so I am really looking forward to it. Our shore excursion that day will be a raft ride down the river. It is our own personal raft made of bamboo with our every own guide paddling us down the river. Should be nice and relaxing.

Wednesday our stop is in Georgetown, Grand Cayman. Here we will be doing an underwater "helmet trek." Basically... we walk on the ocean floor with this huge helmet on our head that pumps oxygen in but allows us to see all around. It looks awesome.

Thursday is already our final port. We go to Cozumel, Mexico which I have already been to. Personally, I find it to be a shit hole, HOWEVER, I am finally living out one of my all time dreams. I am going to be a dolphin trainer for the day!!! No, not just a swim with them, a kiss, and a ride... it is an entire day of feeding them, training them, swimming with them, etc. When I was in high school I used to want to be a dolphin trainer. I am so excited to live out one of my childhood fantasies I can hardly wait!!!!

Friday we have our final day at sea where I will get that massage I told you about, have dinner in their fancy Chops grille, and pack. :(

Saturday we come home after a LONG lay over in Newark. Chad is once again picking us up which is so sweet.

And then, I will look forward to my next cruise which Chad and I have already booked for February 13, 2010. Here is a link... feel free to join us.

I can hardly wait for that one. It will be AMAZING. Wonderful ports, a gorgeous ship (I was on Holland America's Noordam already on my Alaskan cruise), and another balcony. YEAH!!!

Okay, I told you not to read this if you are the jealous type. Don't get mad at me... it's your fault.

How Gay Am I?!?!?!

I am gay... shocking, I know. And for years I have been wanting to do this little "project." Well, last night I finally sat down to do it. This has been a long time coming and I am so excited to finally have it completed. I am now in possession of "The Best Damn Musical CD Ever!" That's right... I conceived it, made it, and now own it.

This was not an easy project, mind you. First, I had to select the musicals. Next, the hardest part of all... choosing only one song from each show. That was a next to impossible task. Most shows have SEVERAL wonderful songs, so choosing one felt a bit like cheating on the others. The good news... one day I think I will make "The Best Damn Musical CD Ever - Volume 2!" I mean... it would be so easy. But for now, I am sure you are curious which shows and songs I chose.

Here are the songs:

1. Joseph's Coat - Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
2. Mamma Mia - Mamma Mia
3. Suddenly Seymour - Little Shop of Horrors
4. Written in the Stars - Aida
5. Little Ole Bitty Pissant Country Place - Best Little Whorehouse in Texas
6. NYC - Annie
7. Summer Nights - Grease
8. What You Own - Rent
9. Another Suitcase, Another Hall - Evita
10. I Can Hear the Bells - Hairspray
11. On My Own - Les Miserables
12. I Hope I get It - A Chorus Line
13. Purpose - Avenue Q
14. An Old Fashioned Wedding - Annie Get Your Gun
15. The Lonely Goatherd - Sound of Music
16. Cabaret - Cabaret
17. Someday - The Wedding Singer
18. I Will Never Leave You - Side Show
19. For Good - Wicked

Again, this was not an easy task, but it was a challenge I welcomed with open arms. Let me know what you think of my choices.

Not so Bad

Well, my wisdom is all gone! However, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I am sure you are all sick of hearing about the wisdom teeth, so I will make this one brief.

I had them out Thursday morning. Anesthesia is amazing. They tell you that you are going to feel a little loopy and literally, the next thing you know, you wake up and it is over. Pretty amazing. After the surgery, my mom took me home and took care of me. She left in the afternoon and AP took over at that point. Then, Friday, Chad came over and spent the entire weekend. It was great having him here.

In truth... my surgery was VERY easy. Almost no pain, barely any swelling, etc. I have been VERY lucky. I credit my surgeon 100% for all of this. And get this... he called me Thursday night to see how I was. Not his nurse, not his receptionist, the surgeon himself called to see how I was and to find out if there was anything he could do. He is truly amazing!!!

So, it is Sunday. I feel pretty good though I am still only eating things that require no chewing. Other than that, I am set. Going to see Spring Awakening tonight, and looking forward to it.
